Time Card Calculator
Fill in the week, and the time card totals your hours, splits regular and overtime hours, and works out gross pay. Print it or save it as a PDF for your records.
How the time card calculator works
Each day: hours = out − in − break. Times past midnight roll into the next day.
Overtime: under the US Fair Labor Standards Act, non-exempt employees earn at least 1.5× their regular rate for hours over 40 in a workweek. Some states, such as California, also have daily overtime rules.
Gross pay = regular hours × rate + overtime hours × rate × multiplier. Taxes and deductions are not included.
Weekly pay with overtime at 1.5×
| Hours | Rate | Regular / OT | Gross pay |
|---|---|---|---|
| 40 h | $20.00 | 40.00 / 0.00 | $800.00 |
| 45 h | $20.00 | 40.00 / 5.00 | $950.00 |
| 50 h | $18.00 | 40.00 / 10.00 | $990.00 |
| 38 h | $25.00 | 38.00 / 0.00 | $950.00 |
| 60 h | $22.00 | 40.00 / 20.00 | $1,540.00 |

Time Card Calculator FAQ
How do I calculate my time card?
For each day, subtract the clock-in time from the clock-out time and remove unpaid breaks. Add the days up, then convert minutes to decimal by dividing by 60.
How is overtime calculated?
Hours over 40 in a workweek are paid at 1.5× your regular rate under US federal law. 45 hours at $20 = 40 × $20 + 5 × $30 = $950.
How do I convert 7 hours 45 minutes to decimal?
45 ÷ 60 = 0.75, so 7 h 45 min = 7.75 hours.
